Peace-Building

Bridge Media Connects Divided Societies

Inter-ethnic crews who come from divided, war-scarred communities are now uniting to produce exciting new programs that promote tolerance, reconciliation, and collaboration. Through AED’s Bridge Media approach to peace-building, these teams create fast-paced programs such as reality television shows, soap operas, news magazines, and documentaries that address pressing social issues in their countries. 

WASH-Friendly Schools in Madagascar Improve Student Health and Attendance

Using soap to wash your hands is the most effective way to reduce diarrheal disease, which kills 2.2 millions people a year. The practice was demonstrated in schools throughout the world on the first-ever Global Handwashing Day, October 15. More than 50 countries participated in this event, which this year targeted school children.

Satellite Imagery Advances Electricity in Angola

Nearly 30 years of civil war left the country of Angola’s infrastructure broken and outdated. Electricity, which is vital to the development of any nation, became largely unavailable. That is starting to change as AED uses satellite imagery to help the country rebuild its electrical system.
